Engine Shampoo
Shampooing the engine is a controversial topic. Some insist that the use of a pressure washer will force water into electrical components and cause damage. Today’s engines are very well protected from water infiltration, but to be safe, we do not direct the water at the alternator or electrical boxes. Mainly, the pressure washer is used to loosen caked-on dirt and oil on the engine block prior to the application of an all-purpose cleaner. The bulk of the cleaning is done by hand with brushes and rags. Any plastic or rubber parts are coated with a protectant that leaves them looking like new. Mechanics love it when they pop the hood and find a shiny clean motor!
